Purple Film vs. Green Disc vs. Ceramic Net: Which Should You Choose?

Purple Film

Purple Film is the workhorse of the lineup. The ceramic grain is built for fast material removal and holds up over long sanding sessions, which is what makes the P40 – P2000 range so useful: the same disc line can knock down stock at the coarse end and finish out to a near-mirror surface at the fine end.

Because ceramic grain performs well across wood, metal, paint, and putty, Purple Film is the disc to reach for when a project moves between materials, think auto body work, refinishing hardware, or any job where you don't want to switch abrasive types mid-task.

Choose Purple Film if:

• You're working across multiple materials in the same project
• You need one disc line that goes from rough shaping to fine finishing
• Durability and grain life matter more than price per disc

Green Disc

Green Disc uses aluminum oxide grain, a proven, cost-effective abrasive that delivers a fast, consistent cut without the premium price tag of ceramic. It covers the grit range most woodworking and paint prep actually calls for, from initial leveling at P40 to fine sanding at P1200.

If your work is primarily wood and paint, and you don't need to push past P1200 or switch over to metal, Green Disc gets the job done at a lower cost per disc, without sacrificing the consistency you need for an even finish.

Choose Green Disc if:

• Your projects are mostly wood, paint, or putty
• You want dependable performance at a better price point
• You don't need ultra-fine grits above P1200

Ceramic Net

Ceramic Net swaps the standard hole pattern for a full mesh backing, so dust extracts across the entire face of the disc instead of through a handful of punched holes. That means less clogging, longer disc life, and noticeably cleaner air in the shop, which matters most on dust-heavy jobs like drywall sanding.

The tighter P80 – P800 range reflects what it's built for: mid-range leveling and finishing work rather than heavy stock removal or mirror-polish finishes.

Choose Ceramic Net if:

• Dust control is your top priority, especially on drywall or indoor work
• You're sanding wood, drywall, or plastic in the P80 – P800 range
• You want a disc that resists clogging over long runs

If dust extraction is the deciding factor, particularly on drywall or in a shop without strong vacuum setup, Ceramic Net will be the one to grab once it launches.
